ETA is organizing a conference dedicated to Data Driven Sustainability on the 10th of March. The event will take place at the Royal Library of Belgium in the very center of Brussels.

In order to strengthen the Green Deal and its efforts to make Europe the world´s first climate-neutral continent by 2050, the European Commission adopted a package of proposals to gain the necessary acceleration of greenhouse gas emission reductions in the next decade, the Fit for 55 package. Thus, the scope of the conference shall be to identify what data is currently in existence and being collected in terms of emissions of the towage sector. Representatives of other similar sectors, like inland transport or port authorities will also explain what their organizations are doing with this data in order to define the right actions that might help them reduce their emissions. The conference will also look into how specific companies use this information to improve the sustainability and efficiency of their operations.

Representatives of several companies and organizations like the Port of Antwerp, the Expertise Innovatie Centrum Binnenvaart or Kotug International will outline the different methods they implement to collect data and how these efforts help these organizations in the definition of the best practices to reduce emissions. Moreover, the conference attendants will be able to discuss the implementation of EU environmental legislation and policies with EC policy officers.
