44 European transport organisations, among which ETA, representing the key spectrum of Europe’s transport network, are launching a campaign urging the Council and the European Parliament to increase the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) budget for transport in the upcoming review of the Multi-Annual Financial Framework.

The transport sector is of strategic importance in responding to Europe’s geostrategic, environmental and capacity challenges. Crises like the pandemic and the war in Ukraine have proven that a strong and adaptable transport sector is essential to respond effectively to these kind of massive disruptions and protect European economies and strategic interests. If the European Union is to become the first climate-neutral continent while strengthening its resilience and competitiveness, it must reflect these aspirations in an ambitious EU budget for transport.

A strong CEF is a crucial instrument to deliver high EU added value, address the bottlenecks that are limiting Europe´s growth, decarbonize the logistic chain and safeguard the European transport sector´s competitiveness in these difficult times” says ETA Secretary General, Anna Maria Darmanin.

The leaflet of the transport campaign for the review of the next EU budget is attached and available here.
