The European Tugowners Association (ETA) supports the European Workboat Alliance, an initiative led by ETA associate member Damen to strengthen Europe’s maritime industrial value chain in the sector of workboats.

Workboats play an essential role in Europe’s maritime sector, operating in ports, along coastlines and on inland waterways. From tugs to CTVs, service vessels, dredgers and crane boats, they provide essential services that support maritime activities and supply chains. Europe is a global leader in the design, construction and maintenance of these vessels, making the workboat sector an important part of Europe’s maritime industry.

The Workboat Alliance contributes to the development of a stronger EU Maritime Industrial Value Chain Alliance, a new public-private partnership recently launched by the European Commission to strengthen Europe’s maritime manufacturing, security, and technological sovereignty. By bringing together industry, policymakers and the wider maritime innovation ecosystem, the initiative aims to promote R&D, support the transition towards more sustainable maritime transport and strengthen Europe’s competitiveness.

ETA looks forward to contributing to the discussions on the development of a sustainable and strong workboat sector.
